In this article I want to discuss why low carb, low calorie and low fat diets are not a long-term solution and why they should be avoided. Why focussing on nutrition is the best way to lose weight quickly, and how eating more everyday will help you lose weight and feel better. I'll also share an idea that I think provides the best plan available when someone is looking for help with weight loss after having baby.
WHY THE "USUAL SUSPECTS" AREN'T RIGHT FOR YOU!
Traditional so-called "solutions" like low carbohydrate, low fat and low calorie diets do not provide a good plan for healthy weight loss and long-term maintenance.
* Low carbohydrate diets may see a small measure of success at first but they are an unrealistic expectation to have for more than a few months. No one can expect to maintain that kind of lifestyle for very long and even if you can manage not to get sick of eating hamburgers with no buns, eggs every day and sugar free soft drinks-just try think about what that is doing to your body on the inside!
* Low fat diets are worse. Not only are they almost impossible to follow because of the highly limited and unpalatable selection of food that remains available for you to eat. They are only effective if you drastically cut all fat intakes including the good fats like Omega 3 fatty acids that are found naturally in foods that your body needs for proper cell reproduction and repair.
* Low calorie diets are probably the worst of all. I say they are the worst because they make you work the hardest for what are at best mediocre results. If low fat diets are difficult, low calorie diets are nearly impossible. Who has the time to plan their diet that extensively? And one small mistake could put you behind for days! Not to mention the amount of exercise that is required to make them effective.
These plans are unrealistic and ineffective. You can't exercise with a low carb diet because you feel like you're going to pass out all the time. You can't eat anything good with low fat diets and you never have enough time or energy with low calorie diets. The bottom line is you need a plan that will provide you with the nutrition you need after having a baby. Your energy and nutritional reserves are exhausted and nutrient restrictive diets like the ones mentioned above are not going to help you.
NO MORE SKIMPING!
There are some serious health risks to consider when dieting after childbirth. You must take into account that you are depleted in more ways than one. The amount of energy and nutrients that you provided for your baby while he or she was growing inside you can take months to recover in your body. At this point in your life you can't afford to take risks with diet pills, liquid diets or nutrient restrictive diets whether or not you are breastfeeding. The negative effects of diets like these can have long term and sometimes-irreversible results. It's important to focus on a nutritionally rich diet plan that allows you to eat foods that not only are good for you but that you like to eat. This provides a weight loss solution that will work quickly and one that you can happily employ for the rest of your life.
Does a diet like that exist?
If I had to choose one thing to tell you about losing weight it would be this:
When you starve yourself or eat two or three large meals a day you are keeping your body in a constant state of survival. When your body experiences long periods without food and or large amounts of food at once it naturally tries to store as much of the fat in that food as it can. It does this because it's trying to survive.
What are you talking about?
You need to train your body to expect food at regular times in adequate amounts. This will let it know that it does not need to store fat because it's not sure when it's gonna eat again, but rather let the fat pass through because it expects more soon. If you eat 5-7 small snack-like meals throughout the day your body will learn that there is a constant stream of food coming in and will not see a need to store excess fat. This one tip alone is the most valuable strategy I can share but it goes a little deeper than that. You also need to make sure that what and when you are eating is optimal as well.
"OK Mr. writer man..."What Now?
Since you are reading this article it is probably safe to assume that you are looking for some assistance in your weight loss endeavor. Few people are able to adhere to a plan on their own and statistically those who commit to some kind of weight loss guideline are much more successful. I have researched a lot of different diet plans out there and there are a lot of good ones to choose from. Equally, there are as many if not more bad ones available. In my experience I have learned that the only diet plan that will ever truly work (and when I say "truly" I mean a plan that will be safe, healthy, fast, and will provide results that last) is a custom plan that is made for you and you alone. What works for some won't work for everyone and most experts agree that in order for a weight loss plan to be effective it must be
"That sounds fine and dandy but how does that help me?"
Well, there is finally a diet plan available now called Strip That Fat. I know the name sounds cheesy but the goods are legit. In some ways it shares the characteristics of other diets because on some level they are all the same. But there are some remarkable differences in this plan that I think are worth mentioning. Strip that Fat features a diet generator that will create a totally customized, completely unique diet plan just for you based on foods that you love. You plug in your information and it will generate a plan designed specifically to work for you. It will also generate a printable shopping list and diet outline among other things. There are a lot of great reasons why I like this plan, too many to list here but there is one more reason worth mentioning because I know all too well how fleeting and insubstantial our motivation can become when we have time to talk ourselves out of things. Strip That Fat is a downloadable program that will create for you as many unique diets as you can imagine; and you get instant access to all the resources you'll ever need so there's no waiting for it to come in the mail and for you to lose your drive. You can start right now!
